Yoga Equipment

Yoga EquipmentThese are some of my tips and ideas about yoga equipment and gear. Hint: You can get (most of) these right here in our own Yoga Store. :)

  • Clothing: The main thing is to be comfortable. So wear athletic, breathable clothing that is neither too baggy or too tight. As yoga involves a lot of stretching, your outfit should be able to keep up and stretch too. Yoga apparel shouldn’t be too slippery either, to prevent you from sliding all over the floor!
  • Shoes: Most people prefer to do yoga barefoot, as do many yoga studios. No more bulky sneakers! Of course, there are comfortable shoes available in our store, if you’re so inclined.
  • Mats: Yoga mats are almost always used and recommended. They provide a comfortable surface on a hard floor, as well as traction for your hands and feet so you do not slip. And they also define your personal space when you are in a large group, so get one that stands out!
  • Optional Equipment: This includes things like blankets, blocks, and straps. Not really required, but generally used for balance and stability, especially for the yoga beginner.
